Congratulations on your impending wedding day. Now the planning has started it can be a busy, exciting and sometimes daunting time. There is so much to plan and so much choice but where do you start if you are fun, creative, funky, alternative people looking for wedding suppliers who offer things out of the ordinary? The answer is to start your wedding planning by visiting the amazing Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza.

Also referred to as ‘EWE’ it really is ‘all about ewe’. The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza is a totally awesome wedding show. Held twice a year (March and November) at The Bond in Birmingham it is home to some of the most unique, talented and creative alternative wedding suppliers. At the helm is Jo, the skilled owner from The Couture Company, Bespoke Designer Bridal Gowns and Sassy, the gifted photographer behind the lens at Assassynation photography. They started EWE in 2012 after they ‘felt there was a gap for an alternative wedding show’.

Suppliers (known affectionately as ‘mother flockers’) include cake artists, jewellery makers, wedding ring makers, bridal gown designers, clothes designers, photographers, celebrants, veils, crowns, tiaras and hair accessory makers, stationery creators, alternative wedding entertainment, a mesmerising magician, a skilled tailor, alternative bouquet makers, a ‘spot on’ caricature artist, shoes, temporary tattoos, videographers, accessories, décor ideas, florists, unique wedding cake toppers, wedding favour gifts, DJ’s, signs, props, photobooths, planning and styling, tents and tipis, hair and beauty, food and drink and so much more. You may even spot a mermaid but what you won’t find is anything boring.

The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza is the only wedding show I show at as it is full of unique people who are looking for their day to be original and not traditional, my kind of people as an alternative celebrant. Over the last five years of being at EWE I have met some amazing couples and polyamorous people who have asked me to be their celebrant. Together we have created their perfect ceremony and they have found just what they are looking for to have the wedding day of their means and requirements.

EWE is a welcoming wedding show where attendees can be at ease. It is family orientated and involves activities for children including a colouring table and a treasure hunt. Each supplier decorates a themed or named sheep and attendees have to collect the names of all of the sheep to be entered into a prize draw to win some incredible prizes.

There is a small brass brand who lead the route around the fair with real brides wearing their dresses with models wearing some of the gorgeous gowns and suits available from the designers present. Suppliers products are showcased during the parade and some suppliers give talks and demos on their services. Stilt walkers and fire performers entertain attendees as magic tricks and caricature creating takes place.

Food and drink can be purchased from suppliers giving the opportunity to taste what is on offer. Food suppliers are aware of dietary requirements and both gluten free and vegan foods can be catered for. The food is so good there are always fellow suppliers in line for it.

Many of the suppliers are involved with working together on the same wedding giving a real sense of community and unity to help plan the perfect day for clients. Most of us have been featured in alternative wedding blogs and publications such as Rock n Roll Bride and Mr and Mrs Unique.

So to sum it up, if EWE are looking for awesome wedding suppliers regardless of any theme, colour scheme, lifestyle etc you will find suppliers who can help you have a EWEnique wedding day. The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza, ‘not for the masses, only the bad asses!’
