Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies

Summer is here, and for a lot of couples, it is their favoured time of the year to get married.  Summer is the perfect time if you are considering an outdoor weddings ceremonies. Couples choose to have their wedding ceremonies in hotel gardens, on sun drenched beaches, in a beautiful woodlands surrounded by wild flowers and trees, against the backdrop of the sun setting over a picturesque lake or in the moonlight shadows of castles. The location choices are many as outdoor wedding ceremonies are on the increase.

Choosing to have your wedding ceremony outdoors gives you the scope and imagination to have a truly memorable wedding. Outdoor weddings mean you aren’t usually limited on the number of guests you invite. If you choose an intimate location such as your garden, there are various places you can hire seating from. From elegantly covered chairs, to shabby chic wooden seats, to natural seating such as bales of hay; your outdoor wedding  can be unique.

To keep with the summer, outdoor theme, there are various options when it comes to catering for your guests. Why not hire a fish and chip van to provide your wedding breakfast? You can even have the food served in personalised newspaper which is printed with the story of your journey as a couple. Dessert can be served from a hired ice cream van. This is great fun for everyone and one wedding I attended had the bride and groom serving the ice creams to their guests. Barbecues and picnics are also a great addition to a summer wedding.

Summer weddings make beautiful photographic memories of your special day.  Vintage style bunting hanging across trees, brightly coloured floral centre pieces on wooden shabby chic tables, checked table cloths and bridesmaids dresses in various different colours rather than just one, make a array of colour.

Choosing an outdoor evening wedding ceremony, lit by candlelight and subdued solar power lights creates a romantic atmosphere. Hiring a marquee and decorating it with sparkling fairy lights give the illusion of a star filed sky. Saying your vows to each other outdoors as the sun sets gives a poignant meaning to your ceremony. As the sun sets and gives way to a new light and a new day, so does your life as a single person and a new life as a married couple begins.

Additional special ceremony elements such as hand fasting, a wine ceremony or lighting a unity candle can also be included. These elements and many more are available to all couples who choose to have celebrant wedding ceremonies. If you have a particular theme or colour scheme, these elements can be colour matched to fit in. I am an alternative wedding celebrant, and theme ceremony elements to match the couple’s lifestyle or wedding theme.

The one thing you need to be prepared for is the weather. As here in Britain our weather is unpredictable, make sure you make allowances for those unannounced summer showers. If you are having an outdoor wedding ceremony, a marquee or a gazebo should be provided as a shelter from suddenly downpours. Should the weather decide to change as it so often does, at least your ceremony can still go ahead and your beautiful dress will stay dry.
