Although not usually a common ceremony; engagement ceremonies are traditional for some cultures, and are becoming more popular with a lot of couples.

Known as betrothals celebrations in the past, engagement ceremonies are a ceremonial way of two people making the first steps of commitment to each other. Engagement ceremonies are introductory ceremonies bringing together two families and two sets of friends through the partnership of two people. They are ideal ceremonies for step families too, welcoming both sets of children, and including them within the ceremony.

Ceremonies can be held in any location, including a family home if required, and can be held on any day, at any time. Poems, readings and any family customs can be included into a ceremony, making it a unique, personalised and meaningful start to the intended commitment of the couple.

Engagement ceremonies can include personalised intention vows between the couple, and acceptance and welcoming vows between each family. Handfasting with family bands and unity ceremonies such as a unity candle, wine ceremony, time capsule or family unity canvas are additional elements to commemorate the future union of two people and two families.

You will receive an A4 engagement commemorative parchment which can be signed by chosen witnesses during your ceremony. You will also receive a copy of your ceremony in a presentation folder as a keepsake.
